What is your favourite sport to watch?
I love watching all types of sport. I watch cricket, rugby and hockey. I also like watching the not so commercialised sports like gymnastics, athletics and dancing.
Who is your sporting hero/heroine?
I would have to say… my dad (soppy I know), but my dad was told when he was born that he would never be able to play sport because of the formation of his feet, yet he played every 1st team sport at school and played EP cricket for years. He is my hero because there is nothing better in an athlete defying all odds.
What is your favourite comfort food?
Ooooooooh, burgers, pizza and slap chips.
What has been your best travelling experience?
My best travelling moments happened on my gap year. From boat paddling and riding bikes without brakes in Amsterdam, to walking through Cinque Terra (5 towns) in Italy tasting pesto and gelato, to jumping off cliffs in Greece, a year of my life was purely spent exploring the world.
What was your very first memorable sporting moment?
I went on a U10 hockey tour to Welkom with my club and I remember it being so cold that we woke up each morning to play and we ended up playing on frost and ice.
What has been your worst sporting moment?
My worst sporting moments have come from when there have been injuries. I have had to be taken off the field when I ran out of a short corner first wave and got a direct smack on the kneecap. I hate sitting out on the sidelines and when you are injured you are forced to relax, but I can’t stand it.
What can you not train without?
A strong mind.
What is your favourite sporting or motivational quote?
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” – Eleanor Roosevelt.
