height: 1.68-1.72m, tends to vary depending on who’s measuring, but I average out at 1.7m
weight: nooooo…I refuse to weigh myself, I keep tabs on my BMI instead and as long as that’s within a healthy region for my build and body type (between 22-24) I am happy. Scales are depressing and one-dimensional. We can’t all weigh single digits like Tinseltown’s best exports.
Greatest Career success: resigning
Favourite movie: umm, this needs to be done in categories ‘cos there’s way too many so: Silence of the Lambs, Interview with the Vampire, Lord of the Rings, Johnny Depp’s hardly ever a waste of time as well, Gone with the Wind, Becoming Jane, Choke, Fight Club, Jane Austen Book Club, Wag The Dog, Dead Poet’s Society, anything by Tim Burton, Tarantino, Richie….and the list continues…
Favourite book: This is even worse than the previous question. I have way too many. Gregory David Robert’s Shantaram comes to mind at the moment, John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Classics in general like Jane Austen, Charles Dickens. I also read a lot of history/historical novels. I am also a sci-fi/ fantasy geek so Tolkien, Anne Rice, Neil Gaiman etc. I don’t have the patience or the will to read self-help/pop psych books at all. I don’t want to know what The Secret is…
Favourite Sport: Does F1 count as a sport? Okay, well then ODI cricket
Sporting hero: Michael Schumacher? On the local circuit, Natalie Du Toit, she doesn’t feel sorry for herself, she goes out there and achieves.
Comfort food: Mood dependant, but something gooey, fattening and carb-loaded never hurts. I’d rather create comfort food for others if I’m bored.
Best travelling experience: travelling through India
First sporting memory: tough one, I think I can remember my family watching a rerun of Zola Budd running and tripping on tv and then the collective gasp, but I must’ve been about 4 years old, or else I’m imagining it. I can remember the 1990 soccer world cup finals, because for some reason I was stuffed into a frilly white dress with white stockings and it was all very itchy and not very nice. Oh, but the most accurate would be the 1995 Rugby World Cup, because I burnt the popcorn…
Worst Sporting Moment: 1999 Cricket World cup finals (I think by now it’s clear that I watch sport about once in 4 years lol), I was writing Chemistry exam the next day and didn’t study because I was watching the cricket. And then when we lost I was so stunned that I couldn’t study after that. Thank goodness for a super easy Physical Science paper that tipped the scales a bit!
What can you not train without: clothes? Well actually socks and trainers and a frame of mind that wants to exercise.
Favourite quotes: “You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it.” Neil Gaiman.
“Conventionality is not morality, self righteousness is not religion.” Charlotte Bronte.
